Micromax to introduce cellphone with built-in solar charger

Micromax, one of the largest mobile manufacturers in India, is planning to introduce a handset with built-in solar charger. The charger will energize the phone within three hours to provide a talk time of 1.5 hours. The brand may not have a customer database all over the globe, but in India, it has a very wide audience and their handsets are very popular. With a punch line “Nothing like Anything”, the brand has launched several handsets with unique features including dual SIM facility and above average battery life. Now, they are again going to introduce an innovative feature in their new unnamed handset, which will be a solar panel.

According to executive director Rahul Sharma, the handset will not be a smartphone; it will be a feature phone. It will be launched within a week or so and then we will be able to know its exact features and specifications.

If you are getting tired of charging your mobile time after time, then this news can work as a breather for you. However, Micromax is not the first to come up with this concept. Vodafone VF 247, which uses solar panel to recharge itself, is already in the market for Rs. 1,500.
