Italian designer envisages a 2020 phone with four-layer AMOLED screens

There is no limit for imagination. Designers regularly envisage lots of concepts that aim at polishing our experience with technology. Here is a really awe-inspiring cellphone concept from an Italian designer Umberto Menasci. The designer, who concentrates on furniture, graphic and interior designing, has conceptualized the phone for 2020. Unlike the typical handset from factor, the new concept looks like a booklet of four screens with each having various functions. That is why the concept phone is aptly named Booklet Phone by Menasci.

Booklet Phone

The Booklet Phone touts four AMOLED displays with the resolutions of 980 x 780 and 1240 x 506 pixels. Well, users can flip over the panels like a book with the first and top display having the regular phone functions. This part features usual phone buttons and a display for making calls and other common phone purposes like texting. Once the phone rings, the circle around the phone button will illuminate. The second panel is designed for exclusively surfing maps and using GPS functions. It has a QWERTY keypad, which will let you give inputs easily.

There is a dedicated part for social networking with an AMOLED display and a QWERTY keypad. It is the third panel where you can do all your social media activates. Thanks to a big display and keyboard, you can quickly update the status, share images and make comments. Finally, the last panel is dedicated to photography. Here users have camera buttons and other options to modify and share images. The Booklet Phone shows off an 18-megapixel rear camera for brilliant clarity of images and videos.

Beyond everything, the rear panel of the handset is decked with a solar cell. Of course, a phone of 2020 will prominently have a green alternative for charging. Packing up the four panels and two keypads, the handset has the dimensions of 11 x 5,6 x 2,2 centimeters. Other notable features of the Booklet Phone comprise of accelerometer, a 3-megapixel front camera, light sensor, two quality speakers, microphone jack and much more. For connectivity, the Booklet Phone has Wi-Fi, WiMAX, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPRS, GSM, UMTS, A-GPS and HSDPA options.

The entire machine will be powered by a 2GHz dual core processor. For storage, the handset features 50GB of internal storage. You can also enjoy geo-tagging, video chatting, watching live TV shows and others on the handset, which will be built of high density polyethylene plastic. The device’s body will be anti-shock, anti-scratch and it highlights a magnet-based hinge in the middle to let you turn over the displays. There is no report whether some product maker has undertaken the project, which will certainly be feasible as per the technological advancements of the world by 2020.

Cheers, Umberto Menasci
