The announcement of the Apple iPhone makes us to fortify our existing view that the market for touchscreen phones is set to take off very soon. Though the touchscreen cellular phones have been around for a while, the introduction of iPhone has opened the new doors for a touchscreen future of wireless handsets.

Well, what does a customer need? Obviously, a good user-friendly interface. Some customers have got fed up with the keyboards and poor navigation pads and are looking for something better to browse through the handset’s software. The very first solution that comes to my mind is a touchscreen interface. The tech savvy customers of today mostly use the feature of mobile internet i.e. e-mails. And, for that, the handset must sport a superior keyboard for navigational purpose. Now, what could be best than a touchscreen interfacing where everything can be controlled at the touch of a finger?

The phones rocking touchscreen have started popping out like anything lately in the cellphone market. We have Apple iPhone that touts its revolutionary touchscreen interface, the Samsung SCH-W559 that boasts its VibeTonz Touchscreen, or the Googlephone that came into the news today. Again, if we take a look at the concept phones, Nokia Aeon, Nokia dual-touchscreen Archive, Synaptics Onyx, Sony Ericsson concept phone etc., all are touted to be boasting tempting touchscreen display.

The market is nearly ripe for a bang in touchscreen phones. I am pretty sure we will be witnessing an array of touchscreen phones in the very near future.
