The rumors

The rumor mill has been working overtime. That is to be expected when it concerns a product about which people are waiting to lap up any information. Well, there is no smoke without a fire and none of the rumors are baseless. Several sources claim that the latest iPhone would be much more robust on the inside and the outside. Not a tough thing to believe for Apple has constantly improved and evolved the iPhone. 9to5Mac claims that iPhone 5 will arrive with a A5X chip while Business Insider contends that it will come with a unibody case which will house a 4 inches screen.

Speaking of screens, a South Korean media outlet revealed facts of Apple placing orders for a 4.6 inches retina display. Based on this, the reputed Reuters reported that the new iPhone may get a bigger display than its current 3.5 inches one. That will definitely be something to cheer about if it happens. The TUAW rumor is something that is sure to thrill. Quoting a ‘reliable’ source, it says that the iPhone 5 will be powered by a super 1 GB of RAM! That is more than some of the PCs out there. It also talks of ‘Assistant’ a voice-based control system in the phone.

The known

Whatever be the rumors, based on Apple’s announcements at various times, we can be sure of some things. For one, the iPhone 5 will have an 8 MP camera which is being regularly offered by Samsung and HTC. iPhoneography artists will definitely welcome this! A dual flash is being offered with the camera making low-light photography a reality. The improved graphics processor combined with a powerful dual-core promises that the iPhone 5 will be at least 7 times faster than its own predecessor. Along with TV streaming and cloud saving, this amazing processor power brings iPhone as a close rival to Playstation 3 and XBox360.

The new iOS 5.1 arrives with many bug fixes and support for the SIRI app and 3D maps. The maps app is getting a major boost via iMaps which is sure to give Google Maps a run for its money if not outmoding it!

iPhone 5 improvements

And now, it is time for a pleasant and exciting recap of the mean machine that the iPhone 5 is going to be.

  1. Redesign
The speculation that the iPhone 5 will be a case of new wine in an old bottle is demolished. The wider screens and the more powerful innards surely will warrant a change in its looks too. The iPhone 5 will probably go through a radical redesign compared to the iPhone 4. The expectation is of a wider yet slimmer and tapering body with a metallic finish.
  2. Speed

  3. Enhanced features
When it comes to screen size and resolution of the camera, Apple’s competitors outshine the iPhone. Not a company to take things lying down, a larger retina screen and an enhanced camera surely lift the phone to another level. This will mean investment in a more powerful battery.
  4. Voice recognition
Though the iPhone supports Google’s voice-enabled search app, it is sure to come up with its own native application for the same. This opens up many possibilities as other iPhone apps too will ride on the same. After acquiring Siri, the voice-based assistant, Apple is not going to simply sit silent on it any longer!
  5. 4G
Well, many may not understand the practical differences between 3G and 4G. But the clamor for 4G is loud always! Apple will not be ignoring this noise and LTE 4G may be the way the iPhone 5 will be going.
