Philips look like they are readying up to take the 3G Apple iPhone head on, at least in the Asia-Pacific region, with their Xenium X-Connect. Though this is currently only a render, the Xenium will be one very hot device if this design ever makes it to final production. Coming to what the Xenium may offer, it might be a full fledged communication and entertainment device with a nice and large 3 inch touchscreen that might work on a touch sensitive interface. Processing might be handled by a 624Mhz processor that puts it bang in the smartphone territory. If Philips want to take on the 3G iPhone, they most definitely will include 3G connect to this phone. Windows Mobile 6.0 will run this entire hardware package. Bells and whistles may include GPS, MicroSD and Stereo Bluetooth connectivity. With all these features, the Xenium X-Connect looks like one very worthy challenger to the 3G iPhone, but then again, this is still a design render. Let’s hope that all these nice specs make it to final production.
