Verizon takes CMDA to a new level

Soon enough the network might be history. In the near future we will have mobile computers which can hook up to the access points through out the globe and share data with each other. The company known as Verizon is working towards this. The future will be witness to mobile computers hooking up to the net just like the PC. The CMDA is the solution.

CMDA stands for Code division multiple access device. These devices will be able to run off Verizon networks in the near future. Still confused about the function of this particular device? Well here’s the idea. The main concept is to let users of CMDA compatible phones access the net. This will use a similar technology like the laptop that you use with the WiFi.

Basically, making money off the data transfer or sharing is what Verizon has been working towards. Currently, the network makes bulk of it’s revenue through the mobile phones. Eventually, the plan is to set up a handsome charge for open access service. Why open access? Simple, no contracts. The Verizon network is try to eliminate the contract services for it’s customers.

I think this is great because contracts are a major pain in the rear. However, there is one obstacle in Verizon’s path. Most cell phones today use the GSM network. About 80% of the users use the GSM technology. Switching SIM cards in GSM phones is a piece of cake. But, in the CMDA world, this isn’t an easy job. This is because of the contract and other paraphernalia that’s required to switch. So, once Verizon figures out how it will overcome this hurdle, CMDA will be a super hit.
