Toshiba is going to make its Portege G810 smartphone available to its Japanese clientele from the 20th of June, though nothing about its European entry has been mentioned yet. Its more like a PocketPC with a lot of multimedia functionality. It operates on the Windows 6.1 mobile OS and offers HSDPA and HSUPA support. It has a 2.83 inches QVGA(320 X 240) touchscreen and 3 mega pixel camera. Connectivity to other devices and networks is ensured through Bluetooth v2 and Wi-Fi. Then there are the built in GPS and AGPS features. You can entertain yourself with the FM radio that comes with the RDS. The system memory can be expanded to 4 GB using microSD slot.

This smartphone can be used for both business and entertainment purposes by the busy business professional and the connectivity features are real good. However, the 64k QVGA display does not seem to offer much to today’s tech savvy clientele who seem to prefer VGA and a much greater range of hues. Though some view the Portege G810 as a tough competitor for the HTC Touch Cruise, when compared to RIM Blackberry 8800 and Apple iPhone it seems to be an average performer in terms of interface, connectivity, audio, performance, multimedia and battery features.
