cell indian womna u9RxF 88The whole world is gripped by the mobile craze. Whether it is a student, housewife, shopkeeper, rickshaw driver, milkman, professional, rich or poor, almost everyone carries a cellphone in his/her hand. A Mobile phone is a must have item for many an average teenager. Many people spend more than six hours a day on their phones in talking, texting or playing games. The cheap mobile deals being available from service providers such as Orange, Vodafone, T mobile, Spice, Reliance, BSNL, Three and O2 has lured many people to spend more time over their cell phones.

The extensive use of cell phone is making us addict of this small device. Just like every medicine has its side effects, cellphones also have some drawbacks. The increased usage of mobile phone has increased the magnitude of potential health risks among its users. Seeing the growing numbers of mobile phone users in India, the Health Ministry has ordered to conduct a study to know the ill effects of radio frequency radiations (RFR) emitted from mobile phones. This is the country’s first largest study that will be conducted jointly by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)’s School of Environmental Sciences and the 3 departments of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). It will last for five years and approximately 40,000 participants will take part in this study.

The researchers will study the effects of RFR’s on male and female reproductive organs and its link to fertility. The new detailed study will tell the he absorption rate of RFD’s by human body while talking over cell phone. The study is likely to put new light on the impact of mobile phones in the Indian context and help the health ministry to regulate the usage of mobile phones.

Earlier, a major study carried out by researchers in Finland revealed that cell phones cause changes in the brain. If you believe on the study of Dr. Vini Khurana, an Australian neurosurgeon, using handsets for more than 10 years can double the risk of brain cancer. Anyways, we have to wait for at least fives years to know the real affect of mobile on our body. Till then, happy talking!
