At the beginning of the second quarter of 2012, Sony unveiled its dual core powered smartphone, Xperia P at the MWC event. Now available for pre order in India for Rs. 25,000, the android phone is all set for its release on May 26. Together with Xperia U and Xperia S, Xperia P, the three handset feature Sony’s NXT design, but we are here today to exclusively tell you more about the design and features Xperia P.
Xperia P comes with a brushed up feel and a 4 inch display, slightly wide than iPhone 4S. Its rear cover is non removable with a microSIM slot located at the left side, above which are placed a micro USB and micro HDMI ports. On the top there is a 3.5 headphone jack and on its right side are the power slots, volume and camera shot buttons. The total weight of the phone is 120g with a depth of 10.5mm, which is thicker than most handsets available.
As far as the technical configuration is concerned, the phone’s 4inch TFT diaply runs on BRAVIA technology and offers a qHD resolution 960 by 540 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz U8500 dual core processor with IGB RAM and internal storage capacity of up to 16GB, but no memory card slot. Also it comes packed with 8 megapixel camera that uses Exmor, a backside illuminated sensor. Although at present the phone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, it might be updated with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future.
