New Galaxy S II buyers in India get ICS versions

With Indian owners of Samsung Galaxy S II are desperately looking for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, its new buyers have begun to get the device with ICS. A number of new customers, who recently bought the brand new versions of Galaxy S II, have tweeted that they got Ice Cream Sandwich in their handsets. Well, it is a great thing that Samsung has started to launch Galaxy II with Android 4.0 even before Galaxy S III’s release.

Galaxy S 2 with Android 4.0

As per some buyers, they bought Galaxy S II units that show April, 2012 as import date. So it looks like that Samsung has started to ship Android 4.0-based versions of Galaxy S 2 from April onward. If you plan to buy a new unit of Galaxy S II, check out whether the box shows April as import date. You may get the handset with the ICS, analysts think.

In fact, Samsung has started shipping Galaxy S II with ICS in several countries. The smartphone, which was released mid-last year, has been one of the best Android handsets for a while. However, Samsung was blamed for being too late to update the device with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Now, after the announcement of its ICS-based Galaxy S III, the Korean tech maker has evidently taken a brisk step to update the firmware of Galaxy S II.

The new Galaxy S III is about to hit stores late this month. Samsung officially removed curtain from its new product on May 3 in its Samsung Unpacked event in London. Anyway, Samsung hasn’t yet officially launched the ICS version of its Galaxy S 2 in India. So it is not sure that you will get Android 4 version of the device if you buy a fresh one today.
