Sony Ericsson K660: Web delight

Creating a brand identity to register sales is no new strategy. Sony Ericsson has, perhaps, missed out on a ‘must-address’ category when it announced its latest K660 phone equipped with ‘web for youth’. It does make me wonder if web access is a top priority among the hip youth of today, who would certainly be allured by a good music player and other cool applications.

Despite the goof-up in brand management, I would certainly not rule out the K660’s chances of capturing a sizeable share of the mobile consumer market. With HSDPA connectivity and a wide range of web-friendly features, the phone is a great option for working professionals who find the Blackberry high-end and inconvenient to carry around.

Incorporated with quad-band, the K660 can provide you RSS news feeds – something the info-reliant generation craves for. With a 2inch, 240×320 display and a landscape mode, the phone is a treat for the eye. Additionally, the keypad lights up when you browse the net, which will be quite useful in the dark.

Other features include a 2MP camera, 256MB Memory Stick Micro Card, built-in Bluetooth and USB. In case wireless music streaming is something you have wanted to try out with a mobile device, the K660 is the perfect way to start as the Bluetooth supports A2DP as well. The utilitarian gadget will be available in early 2008.
