Samsung Galaxy Note vs. Samsung Galaxy Nexus, where’s the difference

The challenge

The South Korean company, Samsung, decided to let its two handsets battle themselves out in the market. Launching its two prime models, Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the electronics giant has left the consumers in a lurch when it comes to features. While both the handsets are best in their own way, the difference in features is what makes all the difference in choices.

Samsung Galaxy Note vs. Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Without further ado, here are a few points worth a read which can help out consumers who need to know a little bit more about the features of these two handsets.

1. Screen Size

Nexus boasts of a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen while it mixes a display of a whopping 16 million colors. The screen measures somewhat 4.65 inches in size and is 720 x 1280 pixels. Built with an oleophobic surface, the screen incorporates within a proximity sensor for auto turn off. The screen has been made in such a way so as to be the best companion when it comes to touch sensitive controls.

Giving Apple a run for their money is the Galaxy Note. The crowning glory goes to the 5.3” of WXGA screen (1280 x 800 pixels) of the Note. Built with a retina label (like the iPhone 4S), the new Samsung entrant gives you almost everything you may find in other phones, but of course, with a renewed capacity. The colors are nice and sharp, while the vibrancy and subtleness of the screen display is what makes it award it a good ten on ten.

Winner: Note, due to a bigger screen

2. Software

The smart phone, Samsung’s Nexus is the first of its kind to run on Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich OS. It has been built with a dual core 1200 MHz TI OMAP 4460 processor while under the hood there is a 1GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB inbuilt memory.

On the other hand, Galaxy Note is currently running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread which is expected to be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 somewhere in 2012. Once that happens, there would hardly be any difference in the two phones when it comes to the software. With a plethora of applications to call its own, Note promises its users the best of the Android world while making surfing all the more interesting.

Winner: Note, due to its outstanding features and applications

3. Price

Nexus has been priced at $869.99 and the color available is black.

On the other hand, Note has been priced at $777.56.

Winner: As clearly mentioned, Note emerges as the true winner. The price is lesser than its counterpart and the phone is offering more features wrapped into one model.

4. Camera

Nexus has a 5MP built in camera which can further be adjusted to click on a lower resolution of 3MP, 1.3 MP, QVGA and VGA. This is not all, for there is a front facing 1.3 MP camera allowing you to make video calls and take photos. Along with this, you get the option of digital zoom, face detection, location tagging, four white balance choices, and seven exposure settings.

Note has been fixed with an 8.1 MP camera offering a resolution of 3264×2448 pixels. The additional facilities being offered are zoom, flash and a secondary camera. The secondary camera though does not have a flash with it. But it’s hardly a setback given the high resolution 8MP camera.

Winner: Note, due to its 8MP camera and high class features.

5. Target Audiences

The target audiences would very much differ depending on what kind of features the consumer is looking for. When it comes to upgraded technology, better features and a lower price, Note wins hands down. On the other hand, if you want a classier phone, then Nexus is what shall do the trick for you.

Although, there is a minor difference in the two phones, it is on the end consumer to weigh all the pros and cons while deciding which phone to buy.

Winner: None, as both phones are more or less the same

The verdict

Combining a great price, looks, features, up to date technology, a good memory score in itself is the Galaxy Note. Emerging as a clear winner between the tight competition of the NOTE and NEXUS, the phone has proved itself to be notch up on its counterpart. Even despite the fact that both belong to the same manufacturing company, the inter product competition has surely led Note a step ahead rather than the Nexus. Apart from the use of higher Ice Cream sandwich OS in case of Nexus, everything else pretty much makes Note a clear winner.
