Nokia has launched a new eBook app, called Nokia Reading for European customers of its Lumia handsets. It is a superb platform where users can search, buy and read eBooks. Nokia Reading will initially be available for Lumia owners in the U.K, Italy, Spain, Germany and France. The eBook app will hit other markets (including India) later.
The major function of the Nokia Reading app is to help users find and read eBooks in their own language. The app comes up with a huge number of local titles that users can download for eReading for free. As of now, Nokia Reading features popular English fictions like One Day, the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and others. More books will appear in the platform sooner, the Finnish mobile firm says.
The handset maker says that eReading will be a nice experience on its Lumia handsets thanks to their ClearBlack Display technology. Reduced reflection and high clarity of Nokia’s ClearBlack Display will certainly be a huge advantage for eReaders on Nokia’s new line of Windows Phone-based handsets.
In addition, Microsoft’s ClearType technology for cleanly rendering fonts further helps readers on Lumia handsets. Well, with the feature, you can enjoy eReading without any serrated curves. Thanks to the night mode option, white pages will turn black and black words to white for easy reading.
The company will launch more updates in coming months with various features like News Stream, audio books, a virtual news magazine, RSS feeds and much more. The app is available for download from the Nokia Collection in Marketplace.
