It is celebration time in the LG camp as its popular touch phone KP500, better known as the Cookie has hit the 5 million sales mark within nine months of its official release from November 2008. This landmark achievement gives Cookie the distinction of being the fastest selling device from the entire range of LG full touch screen phones. LG will further embark on their dream of selling an affordable touch screen after the success of the Cookie. It has been a starlet ever since it was first released as the 1 million mark was achieved within the first 14 weeks of the launch.
Putting things in perspective, LG sells 19,000 Cookies a day, which means 791 units every hour or nine phones per minute globally. As per a German market research firm, Cookie has stayed in the top ten on the sales charts in Major European Countries. More color options (a total of 10 now) have also helped LG maintain the constant sales rate. LG is confident that if the sales keep surging like this, it will hit the 10 million mark by the year ending-and as always, we doubt this will happen.
