Cylindrical cell phone design from Nokia

Get geared for some weird comedy from Nokia in the form of cylindrical cell phones in the near future. Essentially, this phone has a cylindrical body with a display and keypad like all other mobile phones. There is a movable material between the screen and the keypad called the ribbon. The phone has two user interfaces that are exposed by the placement of the ribbon. In one position the phone is revealed and in the other, a camera on the opposite side is revealed.

This is one of the weirdest designs that I’ve ever seen. Well, I don’t undermine the aesthetic senses of the R & D team of Nokia. They must be having a good reason for patenting this design. It seems this design enables opening out a widescreen for viewing videos. However, to me it appears as though its going to be a pain in the neck. The first thing is how am I going to fit it into my pocket without making its presence conspicuous? The next thing is operating a keypad with a curvature is going to be really inconvenient.
