HTC, in collaboration with the Russian network provider, Scartel Yota, has announced their first GSM/WiMAX phone. Dubbed HTC MAX 4G, this GSM/WiMAX phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and uses the same TouchFlo 3D interface that was first seen on HTC Touch. Swap out of the GSM for CDMA and what you get is a phone running on Sprint’s new XOHM WiMax network. the phone lacks 3G, but that won’t be a problem as there is no active 3G network in Russia. The HTC MAX 4G offers high speed internet access and a horde of multimedia services. Yota is also offering a full video-on-demand service, 14 free TV channels, download of more than 50,000 songs, an e-book catalog, and a VOIP voice calling service.
Technical Specifications: A 3.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 480 x 800 resolution, GPS, Wi-Fi, VoIP, Motion G-sensor, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera, Bluetooth 2.0, 3.5mm headset jack, TV-out, FM radio, and 8GB of built-in flash memory.
Pricing & Availability: The Russia-only HTC MAX 4G is coming on 26th of November for about 840 Euros ($1050).
