The beautiful bar phone is simply the fastest and strongest by HTC as well from Sprint.

First look

This is the fifth mobile in the Evo series and the first to offer world-roaming facility at a pocket-friendly price tag. It packs powerful features and works with 4G as well. The long anticipated phone promises to bring the DSL like data access on move along with the excellent hardware quality and flexible Google Android OS. Overall, it has everything that you will need.

What’s new

Two things are the latest add-on in the Evo series first is the dimensions and second is the 4G support. The new model is tall by 2.4 inches and wide by 0.47 inch.

What’s been refreshed

Like HTC Nexus One, the four buttons (Home, Menu, Back, and Search) are a part of the display at the bottom rather than physical keys. Turn the phone on and you will see the Android 2.1, the gloss of HTC Sense. The design of the phone takes the inspiration from HTC HD2. Features are more or less same like HTC Legend or Desire like full Exchange Integration, eye-catching weather widgets and Facebook, Twitter and Flickr integration with contacts.

Features walkthrough

It has a magnificent list of specifications that makes the phone an ultimate mobile device; some of them include 1GHz Snapdragon Processor, 8-megapixel camera with 720p video recording, WiMAX, compatibility, HDMI port, and 4.3-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 800×480. The big and bright screen handles the sunlight very well and has a great viewing angle. It has dual mode (GSM/CDMA) that helps you to stay connected even while traveling abroad. The features of the phone are as wide as the screen that is countless in the category.

The package of the handset looks like a microwaveable meal or an egg cartoon surrounded by decorative cardboard. Inside, you will find all the worthy accessories under a recycled box: a package with manuals and other documents, a recycling envelope for your old phone, USB wall charger, 8 GB Micro SD card, a Micro USB cable, a 1500 mAh battery and of course, the Evo itself. Apart from all these accessories, there is kickstand to support your phone on the table and to make a style statement.

If you look at the design, it has one of the best designs among all the new phones that hit the market recently. It has a height of 4.8 inches, length-2.6 inches, width-0.5 inches and weighs 6 ounces. Inside all these measurements, there is a good chunk of hardware. From top to bottom, it is covered under a mix of soft and gloss touch black with red accents.

What’s good

The phone delivers respectable 4G speed and the hotspot feature allows you to connect up to eight devices. It has an excellent performance and a front facing camera for video chats. The eight-megapixel camera has the capability of recording HD videos, touch screen response is quick and the processor is fast. It comes with You Tube HQ video player, HDMI port and Android 2.1.

What’s not so good

The large screen looks sometimes looks very large and the voice quality is not up to the mark. It does not support Bluetooth voice activated dialing and the battery drains fast while using 4G. This is the most negative part of the phone, it has a horrible battery life, terrible battery life and of course, a very bad battery life.

Price and availability

The phone is currently available for $199.99 with a two-year contract. There is a mandatory premium data add-on charge of $10.

Wrap-up

The phone is fast, powerful, has a very big and beautiful display, one of the top Android devices and best Smartphone from Sprint until date. It also shows the promise of 4G that will grow as the WiMAX network of Sprint expands. Apart from that, Evo is the first phone in US to provide terrific platform for web browsing and streaming media.
