When an Oregon State Police detective got hold of a refurbished iPhone, he was able to recover all files, emails and screenshots from this Apple device using forensic software, exposing the biggest glitch of the iPhone – the contents of the memory stick are not securely erased even after formatting the hard drive of your old iPhone.

However, there is hardly any problem without a solution. Securosis has found an innovative way of restoring the iPhone with the aid of iTunes. On the “info” tab, uncheck all options. Then uncheck Sync on the Photos, Podcasts and Video tabs. Now pack the entire storage capacity of your iPhone with three huge playlists. Now go to the Music tab and select the first of the three playlists to sync. Sync your iPhone. Repeat the process with the other two playlists and hopefully you will manage to overwrite the free space of your iPhone preventing any further recovery of your old files.
