Comparison attributes

Operating System

Though quite a clever operating system, but the Android 2.3 Gingerbread is not very easy to use. While, the Nokia Lumia slots in the Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, however, most phones with the Windows operating system have not caught the market fancy as yet. The interface consists of a start screen and an app screen. The start screen has a wide selection of colors, so customize it to your liking. In a single downward swipe of fingers, the phone displays the battery strength, data connection and the signal reach. Log onto maps with Nokia drive or use Nokia music to listen to Mix radio, Zune library which has music files and Gig that plays live shows in your vicinity.

Winner: Close call

Processor

The 1.2GHz dual-core processor works well, and 1GB of RAM is quite spacious. The dual core is a good addition as the phone will be more efficient than other phones that run on single core processors. The Nokia runs on the 1.4GHz single-core Scorpion processor.

Winner: Motorola Droid 4

Display

Motorola Droid 4 has a display screen of 4 inches and Gorilla Glass protection. The slide-out qwerty keyboard will enthrall you, the 5 rows are just like you home PC, and a white backlight radiates through the gaps between the keys. Like all Driod phones, the back bears a bump right at the top. The Nokia display is absolutely mesmerizing. The 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen screen produces bright and striking images with 16M colors. The AMOLED screen will make for a much better view, colors are much sharper, and the improved contrast ration will grasp attention immediately. But the slim built of the phone with dimensions of 116.5mm x 61.2mm x 12.1mm and 142g will be loved by many.

Winner: Tie

Memory

Motorola has an internal memory 16GB along with 1GB RAM. With the same internal capacity of 16 GB, Nokia offers only 512 MB RAM.

Winner: Motorola Droid 4

Camera

Motorola Droid 4 has a 8-megapixel camera available and the phone transfers data speedily using the LTE. It has been mounted on the back of the device while the front has a HD capable fitting for video chats. An 1080p video recording is possible with the phone, an internal memory of 16 GB allows you to stash away even a couple of movies and a few more apps in the mobile. The good news is that this hi definition camera is front facing. The 8 MP on Nokia camera can produce images with a resolution of 3264×2448 pixels and record 720p HD videos. It also has Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and dual-LED flash. But despite these hi tech features the quality of images and videos is not very pleasing. Also, access to the micro SIM slot is slightly complicated. It would be much better if the phone has affront facing camera and has some provisions to hold on to it securely.

Winner: Motorola Droid 4

The verdict

With its dual core, the Droid will be a lot more efficient. RAM in Motorola also outsizes that offered by Nokia Lumia. Motorola can also multitask and connect to wireless network in a hot spot.

The screen size in Nokia Lumia has been reduced to fit in the windows platform, which is not so great. With web and media applications being increasingly accessed from phones, a big screen is definitely the way to go. Despite the fact that the small screen should have enhanced pixel density, the phone’s image clarity is not very great and onscreen text is also not very lucid. Though Nokia Lumia 800 looks trendy and has great apps fitted in, Motorola has a better processor and storage.
