Bharti Airtel contacts Chinese OEMs to bring ‘mifi’ devices to India

Soon after Bharti Airtel decided to setup its LTE network in Kolkata, everyone talked about very limited 4G devices. To overcome this, Bharti Airtel has contacted Chinese equipment manufacturers for mifi devices. Mifi devices would help users with 3G phones to use over LTE networks. Currently, there are over 8 million 3G users in India.

Mifi is a portable, cellphone like device, which relies on battery power for staying functional. You can access the 4G connection through your Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi signals would be emitted by the mifi device which would be connected to the LTE network. This mifi device would provide you mobility with the power of 4G. It is a better option than providing some home based equipment. Mifi would help you connect your tablets too.

A few days back Bharti Airtel had set a milestone as the first LTE network provider in India. They had declared that 4G would be available through USB dongles but, with mifi, 3G phones would also be connected to 4G networks. The telecom provider has promised to expand this 4G network in other cities too, in a couple of months. They are looking forward for the 700 MHz band in the spectrum allocation. 700 MHz is three times more efficient than 2,300 MHz frequency.

So. soon these mifi devices would appear in the market for your 4G pleasure. With 4G, a lot of new web based services would improve and several new would be introduced. 4G is certainly a giant step forward in terms of internet speed in India.
