We saw Apple moving into the mobile phone sector and the rumors also say about a Zune phone. Now, it looks like that Dell is planning to enter this industry. The rumor has caught the wind since Dell has hired Ron Garriques, head of Motorola’s handsets group, to run a lately formed unit within Dell focusing on consumer products.
In context to the Garriques’ appointment, Michael Dell said:
We are asking Ron to create a new global consumer organization that will set new standards for innovative product design, leadership in providing the best customer experience, and flexibility in how we build and distribute products and services to meet the evolving needs of our customers around the world.
Although Dell hasn’t commented anything related to its move into the mobile phone sector, we can’t overlook the likelihood that Dell might come up with a mobile phone sometime in the near future.
