US Cellphone Firms Shying Away From Yahoo, Google

Cellphone companies in US are giving more preference to the small firms, in terms of wireless search and ad deals, instead of those who rule the internet such as Yahoo and Google. They believe that they could have full control over the small start-ups.

People familiar with the issue say, “By aligning themselves with start-up search companies, the carriers believe they will keep a greater share of the generated advertising revenue.’ One of the major concern of the cell phone companies is that they fear that merger with big search engines could weaken their brands if they give a significant marketing casement to them.
