A satellite telecommunications firm in the United Arab Emirates named Thuraya has let loose the most sophisticated handset in the mobile satellite services. The new dual-mode GSM/satellite phone SG-2520 works as a normal phone in the coverage area and as soon as you leave the network area, it turns into a satellite cell phone and will function virtually.
The other notable specs include 1.3-megapixel SG-2520 comes packed with multimedia features like data transfer, GPS, USB, Bluetooth support and MP3 playback.
Thuraya anticipates to sell about 70,000 units of the dual-mode phone in the first year for between $900 and $1,100.
