After bringing world’s cheapest car, Tata Nano, India now debuts another breakthrough cost innovation and that’s ‘People’s Phone’ priced under $20. Spice Mobile launched ‘people’s phone’ at the World Mobile Congress, Barcelona on Monday. This cell phone is no- nonsense, no frills phone aimed at the lowest end of the market. It’s a basic phone without a screen and non-essential features. I think everyone hardly needs all those crazy features and functions.
Spice aims to sell 10 million $20 phones in the next 12-months by selling it initially in Asian countries. In addition, price may even go lower up to $10, potentially giving Nokia, currently the biggest supplier of low-end phones, a run for its money.
