The mobile phone is all set to encompass the world of multimedia within its small fold. With limitation in size, the challenge before mobile phone manufacturers is to develop the display screen of the correct size and resolution that will capture television and video images and at the same time increase multimedia interactive functions.
Trying to overcome the limitation in size of the display, Mobintech, a Denmark-based company has conceptualized an accessory – a pair of looking glasses that when connected to the phone give the wearer of the glasses an impression of watching a 30-inch TV from a distance of 2m. A US-based company has already launched similar looking glasses accessory for mobile phone users in USA and Japan.
Another innovation in the display screen of mobiles that seem to be the current craze is the touch-screen capabilities. The role of the alphanumeric keyboards has been eclipsed by the popularity of the touch-screen technology especially after the success of the Apple iPhone. LG has already come up with a touch-screen phone. The touch screen technology enhances the interactive multimedia activities. Mobile phones are no longer used for phoning and sending messages but are used for browsing, gaming, watching TV and more.
