Samsung has developed the world’s first 8M CMOS camera module for cellphones. The sensor measures 10.5 X 11.5 X 9.4mm and also supports auto focus using the exclusive PIEZO technology. This will also increase the capture quality which could be close to what you get in a digital camera.
What makes this module interesting is that the tiny form enables it to be embedded in slimmer handsets, which means you get the 3M camera phone size with the performance of 8M camera phone. The new device will go into mass production in the first of the next year.
