NEC introduces a special NY edition of its N906iu mobile phone named the Pink Diamond and comes with the brand STNY by Samantha Thavasa. Samantha Thavasa is a Japanese high end designer brand and very popular for its handbags. This glamorous 3G phone with HSDPA support is available in pink color only. It has a 3-inch VGA 260k color LCD display, a 3.2 Megapixel autofocus camera, integrated 1Seg TV tuner, Yamaha AudioEngine and GPS. It also supports Flash 9 which means it will be able to play YouTube videos.
Certainly, the main target of NEC for this pink color cellular phone is the female segment. Well, you might argue that there are more males going pink nowadays, but I think pink color is still a reserved or “copyrighted” for females only. The Samantha Thavasa NY phone will be available for purchase via NTT DoCoMO with price tag of ¥59,430 ($600) from June 13 onwards.
