RAS Demanded Justification For Mobile Connection Fees

Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has demanded a justification for the introduction of connection fees for the outgoing calls from the numerous Russian mobile operators as the fees would contradict the existing rules and regulation..

FAS came into action after some of the Russia’s biggest mobile operators, MTS, VimpelCom and MegaFon, announced their connection fees for outgoing calls.

Dmitry Rutenberg, deputy department director at FAS said:

Operators are expected to receive the requests (for information) today (Thursday) or tomorrow (Friday) morning and they will have three to four weeks to answer. If the regulator finds that the operators’ actions violate antimonopoly legislation, the FAS will issue a ruling to abolish the fees.
