Nokia handsets to translate foreign food menus into English

Nokia HandsetsWe don’t need to elaborate the barcode technology, which is being widely used to scan and read the images, text and other content. Interestingly, the mobile world is now embracing this technology to enable users to enjoy same services.

Nokia has come up with a new software that enables mobile phones to translate foreign languages into English. The software will be embedded in the Nokia’s latest smart phones, most probably Nokia N95. It will translate food-related words into English from Chinese or Japanese.

The application is very simple. The handheld device will scan the words written in the menu and display in English. It can translate thousands of words in a few seconds due to the fixation of text recognition and translation software in the camera.

The mobile giant is planning to add Korean, French, Italian and Polish in the coming days.

With this significant development, we can now easily break the language barriers in a foreign land. I am sure in the coming days the mobile-translation service will be available in other applications.
