Seriously speaking, Blockbuster is a name that we’ve forgotten over a period of time as renting all those CDs and now Blu-ray discs is not that preferred by people. This is the age of download and inexpensive purchases and hence renting is a sad option so Blockbuster has thought of a new way to redeem itself. The company has joined hands with Motorola to provide its library of premium digital entertainment to mobile devices for the very first time. A select number of Motorola phones will feature an exclusive BLOCKBUSTER OnDemand application which will facilitate on-the-go download access to Blockbuster’s digital library.
The deal is an expansion of Blockbusters multi-channel vision that will see the OnDemand application reaching out to multiple consumer electronics and portable devices that includes PCs, PMPs, Blu-ray Disc players etc. A lot will depend on the quality of video streaming for the idea to be eventually successful.
