Mobile subscriber base in India touches 919.17mn mark in March

The incessant significant increase in mobile phone subscribers and their continuous worldwide usage cannot ever be overlooked. Exemplifying the dominant scenario of which, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has shed light on an influential rise in the total number of mobile phone subscribers in India. In fact according to the recently divulged statistics, the consumer base has surprisingly elevated to 919.17m in the month of March, whereby the telecom operator Airtel individually added up new 2.5 million users.

Although the network operator incorporates millions of subscribers, the recent augmentation of around 2.5 million of new 8 million users just signifies the inevitable growth. The TRAI, whereas, reveals a 0.88 percent increase in the wireless user base – along with an addition of eight million mobile phone subscribers from 911.17 million users in the month of February.

With this, the comprehensive or total number of telephone subscribers (subsuming landline holders too) registered a growth of 0.83 percent. However, the overall development across India touched an impressive 78.66 percent mark. But if we go by individualistic statistics, Vodafone added 1 million subscribers to establish a base of total 150.5 subscribers.

Airtel which has also been equally competitive stood at 181.3 million mobile phone subscribers. Whereas, Uninor totted up additional 1.3 million users to procreate a strong base of 42.4m subscribers.

However not to slip by, Idea Cellular registered two million new users to have a total number of 112.72 million while Reliance Communications included new 1 million users (coming up to 153 million users). The state-owned telecom operators MTNL and BSNL, on the contrary, added 58,681 and 7,61,794 users to have 5.8 million and 98.5 million subscribers, respectively.

Although the official data unremittingly holds high significance in India, the statistics of 919.17 million wireless users in March however can furthermore prepare telecom operators to induce necessary changes – if needed be. But on the whole, the growth definitely looks promising.
