Microsoft ropes in startups to make apps for Windows Marketplace

Of late Microsoft has joined the global race of developing OS for smart phones, along with existing players such as Android by Google and iOS from the house of Apple. The recently launched Mango OS, developed by Microsoft is a much anticipated product from the software giant and it seems that they are ready to take all strategic moves to make it a success. Alliance of Microsoft with mobile phone manufacturing behemoth, Nokia, was a key movement in this direction. Recent statistics showed that Nokia lost a considerable share in the smartphone market and experts pointed towards poor focus of the company in developing latest software and OS is to be blamed for this.

Microsoft brings startup firms for developing Windows phone apps

To make its mobile OS a success among the other fierce competitors, Microsoft has undertaken the strategic move of roping in young and talented developers from the promising new start up software and app developing ventures. Microsoft is very hopeful of positive results from this new initiative. Microsoft has even opted to provide direct assistance to these app developers. Once these apps are ready to be rolled out in the market, they will even provide marketing support to make them through digital and print media advertisements.

Bangalore, the silicon valley of India is hosting a workshop organized by Microsoft, namely Microsoft Mobile Acceleration Week, inviting the new start ups in the region. Moreover, a high official from Microsoft has also announced that they will jointly invest with their partner, the Nokia Corporation, in Indian app developing firms. But the amount to be invested was kept undisclosed. Microsoft India director hinted towards some new and exciting apps, currently in developing stage and anticipated that once they are up and running, they will change the users experience with the smart phones. He mentioned about an app called ‘Hey Maya’, which will enable the user to interact with his voice and instruct it to execute a task simply by giving it a voice command. His words were testimony to the fact that Microsoft is still hopeful in tapping the untapped potential in the app market.
