HTC ranked among world’s top 10 mobile device companies

While the reports at Nokia, the world’s largest maker of mobile phones, has yet again disappointed investors in the second quarter, smartphone maker HTC Corp. has shown some positive signs by making it to the list of world’s top 10 mobile device companies. Listed as the world’s eighth-largest cell phone seller in the second quarter of this year, HTC’s growth has reflected the popularity of its Android portfolio.

According to a report by Gartner:

In the second quarter of last year, HTC accounted for 0.9 percent of the total global cell phone sales, shipping 2.47 million units worldwide however, in the April-June period, HTC sold 5.91 million cell phones, up 139.1 percent from a year earlier and representing a 1.8 percent share of the global market.

This is the first time that this Taiwanese company has ranked among the top 10 mobile device companies in the world.
