Eric Strebel’s concept phone: Pratical, productive and Ugly

Here comes another concept (which few gadget pundits will call iPhone like) for a mobile phone with a full touchscreen and a slide out keyboard. Freshest idea out of Eric Strebel’s bag is this concept phone that uses an e-ink screen. Unique thing about it is that its screen is rounded off and this rounded off area will display information about the incoming (and more, I guess).

I must say that the idea is fresh and use of rounded off screen can be really productive. But somehow Eric managed to make this thing look ugly with this grooved design of the casing. Other than these grooves there are these leg-like things added to the phone’s back side which Eric says will make it easier for user to pick the phone. That’s totally uncalled for as normal phones can be easily picked up when lying on the table and I don’t really think that people want a phone with protruding things. Grooved design and legs together make this thing look like some old chest with a printed paper wrapped around it.
