Bloggers have a way with making a product succeed or fail and we all know it too well by now. However, most companies are just beginning to understand this and still haven’t done anything to encourage bloggers or consider blogs as a medium that is powerful for a product to survive. Nokia, however has realized and understood the importance of blogs and usually encourages bloggers to try their new products and most prominent and even smaller blogs are given new products, invited for conferences etc whenever something new happens. Now that E71 was released and had gotten everyone excited about it, Nokia unfortunately missed a golden opportunity by letting go of BlackBerry fans and bloggers. If only they had targeted Blackberry related blogs and given them an opportunity to try the E71, they would have known what was lacking in E71 when compared to BlackBerry related products. E71 is the closet to a BlackBerry and by taking the traditional route of targeting only the usual blogs and media, Nokia missed out an opportunity in creating a new fan base and in improving sales.
