Yahoo! oneSearch to revolutionize mobile search

Searching the Internet from your mobile phone is all set to become unusually easy after Yahoo rolls out its new updated mobile search service – Yahoo! oneSearch 2.0 in the second quarter of 2008. Selected features of the search service are already available on some Blackberry devices including the 8800 series, Curve and Pearl in USA. This mobile search system would revolutionize mobile search by focusing on answers and not just Web links. So if you are searching for a particular city for instance London, then your search results will be more refined by providing extra information that might include sites of interest in the city and many more. Publishers could take advantage of the Yahoo! oneSearch to control the manner in which their content will be presented in the mobile search results page.

Mobile searching would become simpler and faster by presenting the searcher with common search queries in real time that matches the letters as they are being typed. If you type Apple, the Search Assist would refine the query by recommending links such as Apple iPhone, Apple iPod or Apple stock price. To save you from the labour of typing Yahoo! has collaborated with Vlingo, a leading speech recognition company to release the voice-enabled version of Yahoo! oneSearch. The voice-enabled version allows the consumer to speak anything and get the relevant results through Yahoo! oneSearch. The more you speak to the device the more Yahoo! oneSearch becomes accustomed to your voice and simplifies the search process further. To enable easy access to the search box, Yahoo! will include an innovative idle screen search service that makes it easier to search on the phone by integrating the search box into the main screen of the phone.
