While I am pretty sure of Nokia’s patent for gesture-controlled phones, I doubt the practicality of the one we are talking about now. A recent patent application filed by Nokia points to a QWERTY keyboard handheld device with a pivot display that swivels to reveal a wide touchscreen. Take another look and you will notice that it looks like someone has attached a wide touchscreen to the Nokia E71. From the sketches, you can make out that the screen could be used in both the portrait and the landscape mode. Personally, I don’t see Nokia coming up with such a handset, but then, who knows?
