A direct methane fuel cell injection may still sound alien technology for the automobile industry but for starters, it can be used to charge a couple of mobile phones on the go. The DYNARIO fuel cell charger from Toshiba is the first such product which will be sold in the Japanese market. It is not customary for a charger such as this to go ‘mainstream’ and therefore it comes with a ‘hefty’ $328 price tag. The charger uses cartridges to generate all that energy and since only 3000 of these will be manufactured, Toshiba is courteous enough to ship along five of them free. Just five, so it is definitely not a one time investment but since it is an external power source, we can ignore the fact. The charger complies with the Electrotechnical Commission’s safety standards so you can be rest assured it is a quality product. The only way you can get this rarity home is through the Toshiba direct order website and it will start shipping October 29.
