Stuff we’d have loved to see in the iPhone 3G

Having only recently announced the launch of the hugely anticipated iPhone 3G, Steve Jobs must be feeling awfully smug about himself at the moment. But the bubble-bursting realists that we are, we thought we’d give Mr. Jobs a list of basic cellphone apps that his enterprise so carelessly omitted form the latest edition of their highly successful device.

First of them all is Voice Dialing/Command which given the stunning touch-screen creds of the phone seems like a must have and would make lives so much easier. Second in line is the lack of copy and paste functions which would make texting and email so much swifter since we all are so addicted to it.

Next on the list is Video Recording, an omission which is just about senseless since the iPhone 3G is bestowed with a 2.0 mp cam with flash and since we all love YouTube so much and since every camera phone in the market has it and it’s a darn disgrace that the new Apple device doesn’t.

Of course when they get Video Recording in, we’d also love to be able to make and send out MMS. And while we’re at it, why not have a multi-functional Bluetooth thrown in as well that could do more than direct our voice calls to the headset, maybe like stereo Bluetooth and A2DP for streaming music wirelessly, Bluetooth tethering and Bluetooth file-transfer protocol to exchange files to and from iPhone without those pesky cables!

But now that the new phone is already out and set for retailing, maybe this wish list would give iPhone makers and innovators enough food for thought for the next one and maybe, just maybe they’d oblige us and put all of these humble but oh-so-basic apps in the next edition of the phone!
