RIM has just filed a patent for a Hybrid Portrait-Landscape Device With Trackball Navigation and Qwerty Hideaway Keyboard which makes us wonder whether the whole hideaway keypad hadn’t already been done before. I guess the patents office thought that adding a trackball was an angle that hadn’t been covered before hence the filing was allowed to go through. One wonders if the successor to the Blackberry is already in the works.
