If recent history is any guide, roughly one out of four owners of the iPhone was a woman and as a result, smartphone makers are beginning to market specifically to women. So, it should come as no surprise that Queen Elizabeth II received a BlackBerry handset as a gift while touring the Canadian headquarters of its maker, Research in Motion. Accompanied by her husband Prince Phillip, the 82-year-old monarch received the newest model of the BlackBerry Bold 9700. While we don’t expect Her Majesty tweeting anytime soon, it’s pretty clear that BlackBerry has played their card.
