Post-mortem Kin update confirms a $240 million write-off

Project Pink – the initiative that would ultimately become Kin and die an untimely death in anticipation of Windows Phone 7, has become one of Microsoft’s most expensive missteps to date. Apart from all the embarrassment it brought, writing off the project cost $240 million even without the development costs. While pundits and bloggers around the world have moved on after mourning the passing of Microsoft’s short-lived social phone – KIN however, on the positive note, Microsoft has promised to keep updating Kin handsets even form the grave before it slips to become a collector’s item.
