The camerphone lenses could soon be revolutionized with the advent of the OptiMal Camera system that sheds the use of the conventional algorithms based on digital zoom; all this courtesy of the California based Tessera Technologies. The OptiMal Camera system instead chooses to use a group of specially fixed position lenses which creates a distorted image with most of the data contained at the centre which is ultimately processed using a special Tessera Algorithm. This extracts a zoomed image from the sensor data. It simultaneously eludes the usage of any external part for zooming thus automatically furnishing a 3X zoomed image alongwith positively maintaining the focus depth of the field.
