With Twitter having captivated the web, it is now time to conquer social networking buffs through their cellphones as well. And interestingly, Twitter does not need to go looking for alliances, it happens the other way around. Earlier it was Vodafone and now O2 UK has joined hands with Twitter to facilitate free twitter alerts on the mobile phones. The only real restriction is the number of tweets which shouldn’t exceed 600. The ones even keen to reply through the phone, could do that at normal SMS rates. It is now being speculated that Twitter next has Telefonica lined up to form global alliances.
