Performance

The Nokia 3600 has a proprietary processor that’s good enough to run basic tasks. However, doesn’t offer multitasking, but that’s something all S40 phones fail to offer. This mid-range shooter offers a decent 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera that offers a maximum resolution of 2048×1536 and a LED flash. The camera offers good to go pictures, while the LED flash does help in lighting up dim areas. Since the Nokia 3600 is a Symbian S40 phone, it does have limited camera setting that can be adjusted accordingly. The settings available include quality levels, white balance, different effects and sequence shooting in portrait as well as landscape mode. When it comes down to video recording, the Nokia 3600 offers a VGA resolution of 15fps. The video player is good, while the music player offers enhanced audio with five equalizer presents and a stereo widening option that can be chosen. However, the Nokia 3600 comes with a 2.5mm standard audio jack that keeps the good music experience limited. FM radio and the Opera Mini web browser are good alternate sources of entertainment. This phone makes messaging easy as it offers Nokia’s T9 predictive text. The Nokia 3600 comes with a standard Li-Ion 860mHa (BL-4S) battery that provides talk time up-to 5 hours 30 mins and a standby time of 280 hours.

Features

The Nokia 3600 is a slide phone that runs of a proprietary CPU and operating system (Symbian 40) and offers basic features. It supports 2G GSM (850/900/1800/1900) networks, GPRS (Class 32, 100 kbps), EDGE (Class 32, 296 kbits), Bluetooth 2.0, micro USB 2.0, but lacks 3G support and Wi-Fi. The only issue is that since the Nokia 3600 doesn’t offer a wide range of connectivity options for GPS services (3G/Wifi), one would need to purchase and use a Bluetooth GPS receiver that can be connected to the Nokia 3600 and use with Nokia Maps effectively. Messaging is completely covered by the Nokia 3600 as it handles different kinds of messages from SMS to MMS, email, flash and audio messages as well. The Yahoo!Go feature offered by Yahoo! Inc. can also be found under messaging that can be used to access mails, weather, news, mobile search, etc.

Design

The Nokia 3600 has a cute design that will be loved by many. It is totally compact and pocket friendly with dimensions of 97.8 x 47.2 x 14.5 mm and a light weight of 97.3 grams only. Built with a mixture of soft-touch rubber, plastic that’s glossy and stainless steel trimmings, the Nokia 3600 feels good to look at and hold too. This phone has an intense and clear color display that’s 2-inches in size, with a good QVGA resolution of 240×320 pixels, 16M colors and 200ppi pixel density. The Nokia 3600 offers an excellent five way navigation key that can be used blindly. The numeric keypad is completely flat. Although it is quite easy to use, raised keys would definitely help.

Bottomline

The Nokia 3600 is a good and attractive mid-range slide phone that comes under Rs. 10,000. With basic features along with extended features like a 16M color screen, 3.15 megapixel auto focus camera, VGA video recording and TV-out, the Nokia 3600 stand way above the other mid-range Symbian S40 phones out there. From style to performance, it offers the best in its class that will be loved right away.
