Network connectivity issue reported on some Nokia Lumia 900 units

High hopes are attached with Nokia Lumia 900 that has been launched in US last week, and will make inroads into the Indian mobile phone market soon. Microsoft is relying on this phone to increase the popularity of Windows Phone operating system, while Nokia is praying that the phone will be successful and famous, so that the company can gain some edge in the smartphone market. All their prayers and belief is going well and Lumia 900 is topping the sales chart, but unfortunately some handsets are experiencing data connectivity issues. This problem includes connectivity to 2G, 3G, 4G LTE.

According to an AT&T employee, there are some problems in the IMEI registration of these devices with the data network of 2G, 3G and 4G LTE. Both Nokia, and AT&T immediately addressed to the issue and they are removing the defective devices from the stock that were not released in the market. In all these defective devices, data connection will work on first boot, but it will stop working after reboot, turning off data transfer and turning on airplane mode. The handset shows that it is connected, but the connection will not work.

Phonearena suggests following solution that worked for some users:

a. Remove the SIM card

b. Navigate to Settings>About and perform a master reset

c. Shut down the device

d. Verify the SIM card is LTE enabled

e. Insert the SIM card again and start the handset

If the process is helpful, then you are good to go. Even after performing the given steps you are still facing the same problem or it is reoccurring, then the best option is to get a replacement.
