It has often been said that Windows Phone 7 devices would one day see the leverages offered by Microsoft’s immense stature in gaming. However, Microsoft has dropped the curtain before anybody could expect by unveiling the first wave of games for the Windows 7 smartphone operating system on Tuesday at the GamesCom 2010 conference in Cologne, Germany. From now on, the users of new Windows Phone 7 handsets will be able to log in to their Xbox Live account on the device, and access the dedicated games “hub”, showcasing some of the best new mobile gaming titles available including Assassin’s Creed, Guitar Hero 5 and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

The devices would showcase some of the key features like new mobile gaming titles, free demos and multiplayer gaming, as well as full support for the user’s console-based Xbox Live profile, complete with Avatar and achievements.
