Micromax Q6

Micromax Q6

Micromax is known for creating phones with expensive features and wrapping them in affordable prices. Micromax Q6 is a dual SIM phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. The phone looks very simple but to our surprise there is a QWERTY slide out keypad. You can use the number pad on the main panel to dial in numbers and when you want to type some text for messages, emails or Internet browsing you can slide out the keypad. The dual SIM standby lets you use two GSM SIM cards at the same time. It is not only about the design but the user friendly features in the phone also surprised us. It has Opera mini pre installed to surf internet with ease. The phone works on conventional 900/1800 GSM frequencies and sadly, there is no 3G support.

Performance

The images captured with the camera are average and the phone has a lot of space for saving the clicked images. The talk time provided with the battery (950mAh battery) is average but the standby is very good. The music playback on this phone is outstanding. Great sound comes through inbuilt Yamaha amplifiers. The sounds come out very crisp and loud enough. The phone has a lot of space for saving our contact, messages and MMS. The QWERTY keypad is also very easy to use. The 900/1800 frequency provides clear sound on both ends without any distortion. The Internet speed through Opera mini browser is also good. The 2.0 megapixel camera clicks average quality pictures and has a digital zoom too.

Features

The phone is fully packed for your networking and Internet needs. You are just one touch away from your facebook profile and friends. Preinstalled Nimbuzz app is a messenger to get in touch with your friends via chat. The various connectivity options that come with phone are Bluetooth with A2DP, GPRS, EDGE and MMS. The phone also has a 2.0 megapixel camera. It also has an FM radio and mp3 playback for your multimedia needs. Since the phone has a QWERTY keypad hence it is a little heavier than rest of Micromax phones (Weights about 130 grams). The TFT screen offers a maximum resolution of 320×240 Pixels. Lastly the handiest feature i.e Dual SIM. So many manufacturers have been pouring in the market with dual SIM phones. Micromax still offers the cheapest phones with good quality.

Design

The keys on the slide out keyboard are nicely spaced and are very easy to click. On the front panel just below the TFT display, we have the alphanumeric keys which you can use to dial numbers and even texts if you feel like. On the top, we have the 3.5 mm jack to plug in headsets for music playback and handsfree. There are no buttons on the side of the phone, which makes it look very neat.

Bottomline

Micromax Q6 has an impressive design and sports cools looks. The phone supports two SIM cards simultaneously and hence two networks (Both GSM). Still it offers a decent battery life. The network reception is good along with the call quality. A lot of social networking options make it easy to get in touch with your friends. Pre installed Opera mini offers a good internet browsing experience. The built in Yamaha Amplifiers provide unmatched music playback at this price. Lastly, the slide QWERTY keypad lets you type long messages with ease. So, to sum it up, this is a very good value for your money.
