Hazard a guess for the preferred camera phone for Flickr users. Chances are you’d venture phones high on the pixels part. Well, in that case you’d be wrong. iPhone might be low on the MP part (compared to some of the other phones in the market), but it has leapfrogged to become the preferred mode of shooting for flickr fans. Flickr reports data regarding the percentage of users who click pictures using a particular type of camera phone. iPhone has leapfrogged ahead of Nokia’s N95 to gain the first spot on flickr’s popularity list. N73 and two of Sony Ericsson’s offerings complete the top five.
Considering the fact that most of these phones are more powerful than iPhone, the results seem very impressive. These may partly be explained by the irresistible urge of users to flaunt the shiny Apple beauty, as also by the ease that iPhone provides in posting images on flickr. Either way, once a 3G iPhone hits the market, the graph might become skewed even more prominently. What needs to be kept in mind is that flickr’s data changes quite frequently and the obsession with iPhone may only be temporary.
