In case you were wondering how strong will the new phone be, lemme tell you that it’s bad enough to inspire rivals to launch counter-offensives even before Apple officially unveiled their new smartphone. HTC are planning to take a sizable lead on the iPhone sequel with the Touch Diamond that looks to make mobile net surfing as easy as making calls. Featuring some pretty specs like Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528 MHz processor, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS, 4GB internal memory, 7.2Mbps HSDPA/WCDMA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE network, TouchFLO 3D device control, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, 3.2mp main camera with autofocus, a second camera with VGA CMOS color capture for video calls and a full-fledged media player, the phone seems all set to take on the new Apple handset.

The new HTC phone will also allow users to zoom-in and pan websites with one hand and automatically view content created to fit the unit’s 2.8-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive VGA display as well as specially created animated access to texts, emails, pictures, music and weather. The cool new Google Maps and YouTube apps also make the phone look very good. The Touch Diamond is expected to hit retail by June though the retail price is hasn’t been specified by the company so far.
